Hi, my name is Alexandra. I am also known as Sasha and i have been overweight for most of my life.
I started gaining weight very young, my PE teacher at school told me I should lose some weight when I was around 12.
My weight kept keeping up. The food became my crutch as I was turning to food when I was going through difficulties. It was my choice and my preference — EATING instead of FEELING.
TIRED? Get a Pizza!
ANGRY? Get a Chocolate.
LONELY? I’ll take a trip to McDonalds
I haven’t asked myself one question — Why? Why do we turn to food when going through life challenges and to numb the pain and all the negative emotions?
I have been on every single diet under the sun from WeightWatchers to Keto and Apple and Egg diet. The weight would come off fast but I’d ALWAYS put it back on with some extra pounds.
Once I lost a lot of weight on one of the popular programmes, but I became MISERABLE trying to keep it off. It was never good enough.
One night I woke up with a knot in my stomach and an overall feeling of dread. I had to weight myself. I stepped on the scale, and it was plus 2 lbs. Next thing I did, I went to the kitchen and made a massive cheese sandwich. The tears were running down my face as I felt as a complete failure. That was the moment I knew something had to change.
But the real change happened when I become a MUM.
This is when everything changed for me.
I wanted my daughter to have a normal relationship with food
I wanted her to be healthy
I didn’t want her to have the same worries I had about food.
I did not join a bootcamp class 5 days a week but started walking with a pram.
Becoming a mom was just the trigger I needed to finally look inside and ask myself what I really wanted.
I decided that I WIILL HAVE TO FIGURE IT OUT HOW not to feel the SHAME each time I put food in my mouth and beat myself up for days after an OVEREATING incident.
I studied nutrition and how our body and brain works and WHY do we turn to food when life throws us a curveball.
I completed a Transformational Life Coaching Course which helped me to figure out that it’s not the Nutrient and Exercise that I need to focus but MINDSET.
I NO LONGER FEELING DEPRIVED when I am not eating
